W&T Seafood is a family-owned and operated company. Our business grew from a small retail storefront in lower Manhattan to what it is today, an integrated distribution company that services New York City and most of the mid-Atlantic.
Who We Are
Quality is something we don't take lightly at W&T Seafood. The company was founded in 1985, by Louis Wu, who launched the business because of his passion for great seafood. To this day, Louis still travels all over the world to search for the highest quality, most flavorful and least processed seafood possible. Because of that commitment, we have established direct and exclusive relationships with farmers and producers that allow us to share only the best products with our customers.
Definition of the Day
Aquaculture: Finfish and shellfish that are raised to market size in a controlled environment. Often, they are processed and shipped within hours of harvesting. Growing and harvest methods vary but included ocean pens, freshwater ponds or tanks, earthen saltwater ponds, or suspension off the ocean floor. Production is enhanced by regular stocking, feeding and by providing protection from predators.
